James Joseph McCready was a man from Wyoming. Considering himself a "dabbler," he owned several ranches, one of which had a mine that contained a semiconductor used in radios.

He witnessed Debbie on a plane flight during which she lost her cool. At the time, he had a beard. ("Hot Tub Club")

The two meet on the casino floor of the Fan-Tan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas after Debbie's child Randy accidentally gets on the elevator. He picks him up to keep him from getting away and hands him back to her. They hit it off and go on a dinner date.

There they learn of each other's history, and he learns that she is an actress, producer and one of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. She tells him that she's trying to transition more into production work, but it hasn't been easy. She keeps calling him "Tex," leading him to tell her that he's actually form Wyoming. She tries to leave, but he tells her to stay, that she can call him whatever she wants. The date goes well, and at the end of the evening, they kiss and agree to a second date.

They begin dating regularly and he gives her a horse, Viceroy, in celebration of their six-month anniversary. ("Keep Ridin'")

He begins inviting Debbie to his business dinners, finding her to be an excellent conversationalist. He tells her of his plan to purchase a television station, KXF. However, he makes certain comments that lead Debbie to believe that he mainly values her for looking pretty, but doesn't have any true appreciation of her worth as a businesswoman or a producer. As such, she puts together a plan with Bash to steal his deal and become a powerful network executive in the process. ("A Very GLOW Christmas")
